Simply said, this coffee is a stunning example from Ethiopia.
Produced by smallholder Girma Bekele, a young and motivated farmer based in Biloya village in Kochere Woreda.
Girma inherited his family farm in 2007 with a total of 5.16 hectares, over time he’s transformed the landscape by planting high yielding, disease resistant and improved coffee varietals such as, Walisho, Dega, Kurume with exceptional results. These coffees were chosen specifically by Girma for their productivity and superior cup quality. As one of the first and only farmers in his region to float cherries under water before taking to raised beds. This process allows him to sort the less desirable insect damaged cherries and lighter cherries from the superior fruit, resulting in a product that exceeds expectations.
This is our first taste of Girma’s coffee and it’s left us with the familiar reminder that coffee from Ethiopia really is one of our favourites.
Tasting of mango, strawberry, pineapple tropical and florals supported by an elegant juicy texture and sweetness.
