INDIA -Riverdale Estate | Geisha with Carbonic Maceration. Filter roast, 100g
Tastes of: Green melon, jasmine tea, tropical fruits, apricot nectar with a candy like sweetness.
We’re thrilled to share something truly special — our first release from India, and a rare Geisha grown at Riverdale Estate in the Shevaroy Hills of Tamil Nadu. Riverdale Estate’s heritage spans a century, farmed by the same family, today it’s production is under the care of brothers Prakashan and Mohan Balaraman. The estate has become one of India’s most progressive coffee projects, their work combines deep agricultural heritage with an innovative mindset — reimagining traditional Indian coffee through meticulous processing and experimental varieties.
The farm sits at 1,450 metres above sea level, where cool mornings and drifting mist slow the ripening of cherries. Loamy soils and year-round spring water nourish the trees, while a canopy of silver oak, jackfruit and pepper vines maintains biodiversity and protects the cherries from harsh sun. Every detail at Riverdale is intentional, from selective hand-picking and triple washing with fresh spring water to slow drying on raised beds for 30 days
For this lot, Riverdale sourced Panamanian Geisha seeds to create their plantation, matured over time, the cherry seeds were carefully harvested and then processed using Carbonic Maceration – inspired by fine-wine fermentation. Whole cherries are sealed in CO₂-rich tanks, allowing the coffee to develop an expressive, fruit-forward character before drying. The result is both luminous and layered – a beautiful expression of the Geisha varietal.
We’re genuinely excited by this special release and very humbled to share it with you.
As a limited release, we hope you can savour this cup, shared with family and friends.
