Burundi – Turaco Microlot, Bourbon – Washed

Tastes of: Red apple, brown sugar, yellow peach, mandarin, and orange marmalade.

Named after the vividly coloured bird native to Burundi, Turaco lots are standout specialty blends selected from top washing stations across the Ngozi province. These coffees showcase a clean, balanced cup with vibrant character, reflecting the high elevations (1650+ masl) and ideal climate of the region. Each Turaco lot is a carefully curated micro lot, blended from multiple smallholder farmers, many of whom cultivate just 0.3 hectares or less. Due to the small size of individual farms, cherries are delivered to centralised washing stations where quality-focused processing begins. This fully washed coffee includes an anaerobic fermentation step, which intensifies fruit-forward notes, acidity, and body. After repulping on the day of harvest, cherries are fermented underwater for 12–24 hours, washed for two hours, and dried on raised beds for up to 20 days.
