We’re thrilled to introduce this exceptional lot from Lamastus Family Estates, a legendary producer known for crafting some of the world’s most celebrated coffees. Since 1918, the Lamastus family has cultivated high-quality beans across their estates, showcasing the unique terroir and innovation that has been passed down through generations. This special release features a Catuai variety from the acclaimed Elida Estate, recognized for its high-altitude location and distinct microclimate.
Elida Estate lies within the protected Volcan Baru National Park, an ecological sanctuary where the combination of high elevation, rich volcanic soils, and surrounding virgin rainforest creates the perfect conditions for growing outstanding coffee. At altitudes reaching up to 2,160 meters, the cool, misty environment slows the ripening of the cherries, allowing for the development of complex and nuanced flavors.
This particular lot underwent an extended natural process with a unique twist: a 5-day anaerobic fermentation followed by a careful 23-day slow drying period on raised beds. The result of this meticulous process is a vibrant, fruit-forward cup that captures the essence of Elida Estate’s terroir. Expect ripe fruit notes of black cherry and red apple, balanced by a delicate acidity and a smooth, velvety body. The finish is long and floral, a testament to the exceptional conditions and expert processing the the Lamastus family.
